The Red sea
The Red sea was first known by the ancient Egyptians, as they were trying to build commercial routes to punt.
More than 1200 species of underwater creatures are living in the red sea as it is a rich ecosystem; most of the creatures were never found somewhere else, which make the red sea more unique.
What make the red sea an amazing place to visit, are the coral reefs which lie along its coastline, more than 2.000 KM of coral reefs are lying along the red sea coats from about 5000 years ago. These coral reefs are shaped like platforms and lagoons like the blue hole at Dahab near Hurghada. Different kinds of fish are living in these coral reefs including 44 species of shark.
The red sea is one of the places that capture your imagination from the first visit, the name of the red sea was driven from the huge growth of a blue algae, Trichodesmium erythraeum, that notwithstanding its name.
The red sea is surrounded by spectacular desert scenery, the red sea was created 40 million years ago when the African and Arabian continents broke apart, this movements are still going, making the red sea half an inch wider every year.
