St. Catherine National Park occupies 20 percent of the central part of South Sinai, it almost covers all the mountainous area of South Sinai including the highest peak in Egypt, St. Catherine mountain which is 2,624 m above sea-level as well as other famous mountains , Mount Sinai (Moses mount), Mount Serbal, Mount Um Shomer and Mount Tarbush.
In fact, St. Catherine area not only encloses a dazzling scenery and geological formation, but also a numerous attractions as well as animals, birds and Around 1000 plant species whose life was under threat. St. Catherine protectorate supports a huge number of wild species; some are nowhere else in the whole world. It was constructed in 1996, and focused great attention on the flora and fauna and how to protect the coast and unique reeves as well as the sea life. |
