Positive impact:
- Tourism can be a powerful motive to protect our ancient sites and natural resources - Tourism generates revenue to empower conservation and management of natural environment - Tourism provides hundreds of job (direct and indirect); there are a lot of locals who are working in tourism industry such as hotels, resorts, shopping, transportation, entertainment, and suppliers for food and beverages. - Tourism is an important part of Egypt economy as it helps the local communities to improve their quality of life - Tourism support many developing countries like Egypt as Egypt depends greatly on tourism
Negative impact:
Egypt is know for its ancient monuments such as Giza Pyramids, Saqqara complex, Memphis city, valley of kings, Hatshepsut temple, Karnak temple, and many other historical site, however the increasing number of visitors are damaging these ancient sites, in addition to the weather factor, as some believe that tourists visits speed up the ageing of the ancient site more than the natural elements, Tourists can also cause higher rates of humidity which cause walls to wear away.
However the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities is working in solving this problem.
Another negative impact of tourism is the heavy dependence on tourism by large population and the seasonal change of jobs which leads to instability of the daily life.
Also the culture and traditions can be influenced in local communities as there are huge differences between two countries, those differences do not mean that they are wrong. Another dangerous matter is the damaging of the red sea coral reefs as a result of tourists water sports; we have to do some thing about that matter as coral reefs sustain valuable fish species not to mention small fish get their food from them, coral reefs have also a very important job as they protect shoreline from erosion powers of storms and wave action, hence we have to increase awareness about the importance of coral reefs, because without coral reefs a lot of problems will face us.
