World Tourism Day
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO – United Nations World Tourism Organization) is an agency of the United Nations specialized in the tourism field. It plays an impressive role in promoting tourism and its sustainability, in addition to its great main role in developing countries.
It includes 390 members from 161 countries from Africa, America, Asia and Europe.
The UNWTO mission in Africa is to support and assist its members there in order to develop tourism industry for sustainable economic and social progress.

The UNWTO celebrates the World Tourism Day since 1980, on September 27, this date is the date of the adoption of the organization’s statutes in 1970, and it is considered as the milestone in global tourism. This celebration is held in a different country each year.
The main purpose of this event is to increase the awareness of tourism in the whole universe and its social, cultural, political and economic impacts.
