Arabs invasion in Egypt
Arabs invasion in Egypt , the Arabs firstly thought about conquering Egypt due to the frequent invasions into Syria from the Egyptian side and the dangers to which the sea board was subjected by the Romans made the Caliph, after some hesitation, to lead an expedition into the land of the Pharaohs.
Amr Ibn El Aas with only 4000 men succeeded in entering Egypt, this was due to the bad condition of Egypt in the last part of the Roman reign during which the Egyptians were oppressed in paying taxes that the people were hoping for a better and just life.
What made matters worse is the religious disputes accompanied by persecution. Christians were tortured and beheaded by the Romans.
The army was standing powerless against any foreign invasions. All these conditions combined together and made the Egyptians welcome the new conquerors. Amr Ibn El Aas seized control over Egypt in 641 A.D.
The Arabs did not interfere in the Christians affairs and they can follow their own faith in return to a capitation.
